Beglika Fest 2011

Beglika Fest 2011

19 - 21 August 2011
There is good reason to call Beglika Fest the different festival and we surely won’t mistake by defining it as the greenest and the most eco orientated festival here. The traditional August gathering by the Rodopa dam Golyam Beglik this year again is spread in three days (19-21 of August) of folklore music, yoga of laughter, lessons of kneading bread and all of this – among breathtakingly beautiful Nature.

Where is it?
The festival is held in West Rodopa Mountain, on the shore of Golyam Beglik dam and is situated around 30km from Batak. The road condition from Sofia to Beglik is between average and good, so the driving won’t take you more than 3 hours. The organizers recommend you to use the special Beglika-buses that are leaving from Vasil Levski stadium on August 19 and 20, there also are buses from Batak to the dam (you can check out the schedule and the prices on 2011.beglika.org). There will be guarded parking and camping sites (one of them is specially for the families) but except for the tent, do not forget warm clothes because the dam is at 1500 meters altitude and the evenings are really chill.

Panem Et Circenscs
Of course, you could just take a walk around and lie down with a nice book but Beglika Fest offers many other attractions – both entertaining and natural. You could enter the Agriculture and Feeding Forum (it includes interesting things like kneading whole-grain breads workshop, workshop for the campaign Of bees and men, lections on Biodiversity in farming) or th see how you could build with straw, to recall which were the folk games, to learn how to play didgeridoo and to learn the advantages of the so called deep massage.

There is also music!
Because without the corresponding music, the mood wouldn’te be the same. Of the cleverly called Aylyak stage there will play Bulgarian DJs like Dharba, Dancing Angel and Phoenix, and on Kaba Stage we will see mostly live music. On the first day there will be playing 101 Kaba Bagpipes, Irfan and the Theodosii Spasov Quartet, on August 20 there will be playing Nasekomix and the Romanian ska/punk agents of PoPa SapKA, and in the closing night there will perform Jango Ze and Taralejkov.
