In the Net

1 October 2009 text Nikola Shahpazov
Like all average internet users we do not just live online 8 hours a day, but also started shopping almost everything. So the WebIt Conference comes just in time. We asked two of the lecturers - Przemek Pluta from PayPal Poland and Aleks Marks from eBay about the condition of e-marketing.

Przemek Pluta

How often do you shop online?
About 10 transactions a month. But, of course, that is nothing compared to the money I pay offline.

Do you thing that in long-term perspective online shopping will replace traditional shopping completely?
I do not think this will happen soon. In Poland e-shopping is about 2% of all sales and even in UK which is the best developed electronic trade market in the EU it is 5%. Besides, I cannot imagine my breakfast without a fresh croissant - and I prefer to buy it from the bakery.

How many Bulgarians are using PayPal right now?
About 126 000

Przemek Pluta's lecture is at the NPC, Hall 1, 8 October, 14:00

Alex Marks

How often do you shop online?
2-3 times a month.

Do you thing that in long-term perspective online shopping will replace traditional shopping completely?
No, I am convinced there will be a balance between the two. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages.

How many Bulgarians are using eBay?
I have no clear idea because we do not have a Bulgarian eBay website, but lots of Bulgarians are trading through websites in other countries. I have to check.

Do you really work 24/7 in big corporations, or you have some free time?
The good balance work/life is essential in eBay - we are all trying to maintain that.
