    26 March 2009

    text Galina Keremedchieva

We usually associate the 22th March with springtime set in. For four young people from Varna the date is the birthday of their artistic society, named Perde. They defined it as a “circle of enthusiasts, united by their interest to every kind of art, which provokes reflections, discussions and self-expressions.”
One of them is Lubomir Sergeev, a professional photographer. Now he works on some large advertising campaign.

This nice local campaign quickly took over the world and on 28 March 1500 cities will try to do this again. Among them is Sofia and the main initiator is the Bulgarian branch of the WWF. For this and other eco activities we asked Tanya Kirova - an economist by education and ecologist by vocation.

Two young ladies can make your parties more adventurous. We are not surprised by their next initiative called Married for a day. Ladies passionately told us what exactly it means and how they plan to realize it.

Lucien Clergue can tell a thousand stories – and each and every single one of them seems to be golden. A photographer with over 60 years of practice, fanatic devoted to naked woman’s body and bull fights, monsieur Clergue is also a friend of some genius creators such as Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau and Pablo Picasso. He is used to answer a lot of questions mostly about don Pablo, to whom he devoted his book Picasso My Friend, photos of which can be seen also in the exhibition about Pablo is Sofia. This Friday Clergue will tell his stories in The Red House – and here you are some in advance.

Around Vesi Sarieva always happens something interesting. The artistic and creative young woman is inexhaustible source of ideas. A provocation to us this time is called Friends behind the bar and will happen in nontraditional area of Artnewscafe. The idea of the project is to invite creative persons to function as the guest barmen at the cafe for one day. They will prepare drinks for customers, and in addition to it will show their art projects. The first "friend behind the bar" is Raycho Stanev - visual artist, graphic and web designer, master of the home made rum. All  day long Raycho will serve the visitors and answer the questions about his projects, installations, illustrations presented in the cafe.

    Petya Zlatanova

Along with her first book she says Goodbye to the reader. Perhaps now she is boring from the competitions, because almost no gap. Her words are magnet for awards. The latter is from the short story contest Rashko Sugarev. She writes poetry, dramaturgy, she was leading TV, and soon - radio editor. You'll know her by the dimples in corners of her lips and luminous and shine spark in the eyes. Around her is warm and light.
Her new play Cinderella 09 has premiere in Stara Zagora on 19th December in the Regional Library Zahari Knyazheski. Maria Doneva is in the focus of the Programata this week.

Andrean Neshev is a designer as well as a collector of cultural clips. He started by cutting street posters with a paper knife so that he could paste together one known yet unknown Bulgarian cultural identity that impressed his German professors quite a bit with his graduation work. Now the idea has developed into a book – Visual Cut Bulgaria presenting 23 Bulgarian studios and artists in the sphere of communication design. Days before the premiere of the book at this Saturday’s Design biennale Andrean confessed tha without BNT’s good old logo things just wouldn’t have been the same.

Rumen Barosov is well spoken and seemingly calm but he can't hide his enthusiasm – the Sofia: Poetics festival, organized by himself and colleague Yasen Atanasov is close at hand. And it is a thing to be excited about indeed – eight years after the first Bulgarian festival combining urban poetry and modern music comes its second incarnation. And it shapes up to be quite good – 32 poets, 15 bands and DJs, 3 dance miniatures and one whole evening of art improvisation, on 21 September, under the stars and right next to the water lillies lake.
