One of the good sides of globalization is that we can enter all kinds of international competitions on an equal basis. Like the BAZA modern art contest which for a second year in a row invites yound Bulgarian artists to show what they are capable of. The BAZA young artist prize was founded in 1990 in Czechoslovakia and since then has been given in 10 Europen countries – Bulgaria joined the list in 2008. Besides the pride and the glory, the candidates are also competing for a 6-week scholarship in International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York between Oct 2009 – May 2010 and a one-man show in the Institute of Modern Art in Sofia. If you are interested, make a portfolio and send it to Maria Vasileva in Sofia City Art Gallery not later than 4 April. The four nominees will be announced on 17 April at ica-sofia.org, and the winner will be known in 2010.
