• 8 Moments of Milen Yordanov

    8 November 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

He loves rainy Rome, the mountain during winter, the smell of coffee and black and white movies. He actually studied to be a film director but today he spends all his time on two other kinds of art: music and graphic design.
  • In focus: Roger Ballen

    8 November 2018

He insists that he is a visual artist and does not have a way with words. But in fact, Roger Ballen talks as interestingly as he shoots. But not so freaky - a definition that is often used for his strange photographs with enough darkness and absurdity that Die Antwoord recognized themselves in him. Today, we are talking to Ballen for half an hour to warm us up for his upcoming show.
  • 7 Moments of Georgi Trashliev

    1 November 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

If we have to profile him, he's one of the people who don't get upset easily and prefer a positive outlook on life. At 14 he left Bourgas and settled in Southsea - a resort on the southern coast of the UK where he still lives today.
  • The things of life: Folch Studio

    1 November 2018

In their office with huge windows in Barcelona for a moment it seems like they have everything: both powerful design projects and enough time for surfing and innocent side entertainment like the erotic magazine Odiseo.
  • 7 Moments of Vasilena Gankovska

    25 October 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

She loves walking around cities and taking photos of things that seem boring at first, but actually say a lot about the inhabitants, the lifestyle and the general environment of the place. All this, plus the forms of coexistence, the cities in transition (such as Sofia) and the architecture of late modernism are the major themes that Vasilena explores in cultural studies and paintings at her atelier in Vienna.
  • 7 Moments of Shenay Daulji

    18 October 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

If you're wondering about her name, it's Turkish but still - both Shenay and her parents, and even her grandparents were born here in Bulgaria.
  • 8 Moments of Bilyana Mateeva

    11 October 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

She rarely looks at the clock and likes to switch off from the world regularly in order to keep herself sane. As a kid she watched a lot of criminal series and for a while she thought of becoming a murder investigator. "Ironically, I'm timidly investigating everything from a distance now, but I stain my fingers daily."
  • 7 moments of Katerina Vaseva

    4 October 2018

No way we could work in on this page the other things she'd done - her one and only dancing robot, the web design, the architecture - but at least we can show you a few of her illustrations.
  • 7 Moments of Maria Sufieva

    27 September 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

Did you see Strugare's new video Kosmos and Atila & Worst's Tarpenie? If yes, then you've also seen Maria. She's already famous as a model but did you know she's also a pretty great illustrator?
  • 7 Moments of Veronica Belcheva

    20 September 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

Since she was a teenager she always loved exhibitions, illustrated books and artists' albums. She also remembers her mother used to make posters with communist slogans for a factory once upon a time. However, for the past 11 years Veronica has been working in the IT sphere, and the thought of becoming an artist herself obviously was standing somewhere in the corner, covered with dust.
  • 9 Moments of Slavena Peneva

    13 September 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

Her characters are often made out of geometric shapes but with Slavena languages win the eternal battle against mathematics. Not just because she graduated from the German Language High School or because she also speaks English and (a little) Spanish, but because she decided to study Visual Arts in Maastricht. In Dutch. Which back then she didn't speak.
  • 14 Moments of Yehuda & Maya Devir

    5 September 2018

"It all started when we moved to Tel Aviv and were looking for an apartment. Maya suggested that I make a fun illustration asking for our friends' help to find a nice place (it's very hard in Tel Aviv)." That's how the big bang in the couple's life happened - the birth of the series One of Those Days which consists of illustrations of their everyday married life.
  • 7 Moments of Angela Pencheva

    30 August 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

While she tells us how nobody ever pronounces her name correctly, we're embarrassed that at first we, too, were one of these guys. That's why we quickly shift the focus to her personality and she tells us how, as a kid, she had an imaginary friend with whom she communicated telepathically. And how she picked the pencil as early as 3-years-old, then studied art at school, then she enrolled in NBU to study Graphic Design and finally she got a job at Saatchi & Saatchi.

  • The things of life: Oda Jaune

    23 August 2018

text Natalia Ivanova photo Elena Nenkova

When she is a child, her sister, also an artist, leaves in front of her a bouquet of red tulips to paint, and she copies on the sheet what she sees. Instead of praise, however, she gets a lesson: what was created by the nature is perfect, so there is no need to repeat it. "My next painting was blue tulips with pink handles," she tells us today to capture the direction in her painting: both astonishing, but also with plots close to detail and sensation to dreams.
  • 9 Moments of Lyuba Dashinova

    16 August 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

She loves well-planned days, dreams of adopting a dachshund and, when she's not filling the white sheet with her ideas, she distributes her time between her cats, roller skating, and yoga.
  • 8 Moments of Victoria Nikolova

    9 August 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

Relationships between people, simple household objects, and randomly-heard conversations are three of the things that most often inspire her. She's sad she can't find the time to set up Behance and Dribbble accounts as well, but her Instagram profile with quick drawings made for fun was enough to attract us.

    19 July 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

Do you know who invented the hole in donuts? Or that up until 1949 the sign on that hill in LA read Hollywoodland? Or that in the 16th century, in Naples, you could get a death penalty if you kissed somebody in public?
  • 8 Moments of Victor Toshkov

    12 July 2018

    text Violeta Ivanova

It takes him 8 semesters of Law to finally decide to shift his focus onto what's always made him calm and happy: drawing. The consequences are that he moved to Sofia from Shumen and enrolled in New Bulgarian University's Graphic Design course.
