• Echo of BanskoFilmFest 2015

    Sofia is turning into Bansko for 5 days. Between 3 and 9 February we'll be watching the best of world's mountaineering and extreme cinema, known as BanskoFilmFest. As usual, the adventure movie nights will be happening at the Polish Cultural Institute at 18:00.

  • International Students Film Festival New Wave

    New ideas, new trends, new horizons, new meetings and new inspiring movies. The main goal of New Bulgarian University and the department Cinema, Advertising and Show Business, in particular, is to establish an event which will combine all these things by selecting and uniting the best of the students’ creations in cinematography. This is the reason for the initiation of the International Student Film Festival New Wave.
  • Sofia MENAR Film Festival

    In Arabic the word means "a guiding light", but there is no need to open up the dictionary - MENAR is the festival for movies from the Middle East and Africa. It opens on 14 January at Cinema House and will feature around 40 movies which will be screened till the end of the month.

  • Movie Panaroma Italy Today

    We'll be watching six movies from the land of Marcello Mastroyani and Sophia Loren, produced in the last couple of years, with the courtesy of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, Cinema House and Odeon Cinema.
  • Challenge Days

    Ten years ago it started off as a casual meeting between travellers and mountaineers. Now it has escalated to a whole festival for ecology, tourism and everything extreme. In the first three days of December the marking will point you in the direction of Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture for the eleventh Challenge Days.

    Our evenings for the next two weeks are already booked - Cinemania smuggles nearly 60 movies in the hours after work between 12 and 29 November. Only the lucky ones will watch all, so we mark down thse 14 as must-see while we brace ourselves for the turbulency of Losers by Ivaylo Hristov - the story about love and loneliness between a few high-schoolers in a small town will open the festival on 12 November at 19:00 in the National Palace of Culture, Hall 1.

    G-8 Cinema gives scene to Bulgarian short movies with its latest project. Every month there will be a special thematic selection of movies, united under the name The Unconformist Alternative. In this way, the initiative strives to keep us up to speed with the tendencies, that are set by young and independent artists and movie makers in the sphere of the audio-visual arts.

    Colibri Publishing House celebrates 25 years with a special book-to-movie festival, called CineLibri. It gathers the cinema and literature and will screen movies adapted from books between 2 and 11 November at Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna.

    Uvalievi Foundation and The Bulgarian NAtional Filmothek present a panorama in celebration of the birth of Petar Uvaliev (known as Pierre Rouve) - the renowned Bulgarian intellectual, who worked in the British film industry more than 20 years.
  • Northern Lights

    The 7th edition of the festival for movies from Scandinavia and the Baltic region Northern Lights will be held in Sofia from 24 September to 1 October at Cinema House, G-8 Cinema, Euro Cinema and Odeon. The program includes 15 premiere titles from Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden.
