Swan Lake

Swan Lake

Genre: Musical
Austria, 1966, 102'

Director: Truk Brans
With: Margo Fontaine and Rudolf Nureyev
When this production of the Vienna Opera was filmed, Fontaine was already a living legend, given the title by the Queen, and Nureyev's career after his escape from the Soviet Union was gaining momentum.

With his inherent audacity, he revised Marius Petipa's canonical choreography and offered his version of Tchaikovsky's great ballet, portraying Prince Siegfried as a much more equal partner to Odetta / Odilia. Nureyev and Fontaine combine in a completely innovative way classical ballet and modern dance. Considered one of the greatest partnerships of all time, Nureev himself says of this performance: "We danced as one body and one soul." Two legends in top form - an absolutely memorable experience!
