Navigational light

10 October 2019
"It was 2014, March 1st, wonderful weather: gloomy, outside temperature about 2 degrees." It is in this atmosphere that Vladimir Spasov stretches his tripod for the first time and points his camera at the lighthouse in front of him. Even then, he knows that he wants to tour all such structures on our Black Sea coast and document them one by one, inspired by the photographs of Bernd and Hill Becher. This is his hobby (otherwise he is an engineer) since he was 7 or 8. Then his father teaches him how to work with a photo camera and in the dark room. And  disappearance seems to be an important topic for him - lighthouses have slowly been displaced by other navigation systems, which is an explanation for his obsession. The other is simple - its sea is an inspiration, not only for photography but also for sailing. Today, however, we are on a shooting wave - as his next exhibition here turns Vladimir's lighthouses on PhotoSynthesis until October 26, we ask him about his stories with some of the guide lights in the series.
